Natural Gas

Diverse supply provides security:
Ontario has the most secure supply of natural gas of any other place on the continent; we have access to every single major source of natural gas available to North American business.

Significant capacity:
The Dawn Hub just south of Sarnia, Ontario (in southwestern Ontario), is a major centre in North America's natural gas market. This hub moves more than 1.4 billion cubic feet of gas per year, with only 600 billion cubic feet currently being used in the province. The hub in Ontario also provides the province's industries with a small price advantage over other markets that lack this key infrastructure (source: Union Gas). Ontario is home to two natural gas utility companies: Enbridge and Union Gas. [More]

Electricity

Price - we're right on the money:
At 7.1-cents a kilowatt hour (Dec 2007), Ontario's electricity price is lower than other leading food processing states like California, Texas, Florida, New York and New Jersey.

Our Advantage in Demand Management Programs:
Ontario's Independent Electricity System Operator manages 30,000 megawatts of generation capacity to serve a growing electricity market. When you consider Ontario, be sure to ask the Local Electricity Distributor in the jurisdiction you are considering about their Energy Demand Management Program. These programs offer an advantage by helping you to plan and manage electricity use and costs – a perfect fit with today's trend toward Lean Manufacturing.

Sell your renewable energy:
For Ontario industries capable of delivering renewable energy to the power grid, the province also has a purchase program offered by the Ontario Power Authority's Conservation Bureau. [More]

Water

Half the Cost:
Average Canadian municipal water prices are half the price of the U.S. average (US $5.60/000 gallons vs. US $3.00/000 gallons, source: Canadian Bottled Water Association 2006). While prices do vary from municipality to municipality, manufacturers have a choice of locations where water prices track between US $2.00 to US $5.00 per 1000 US gallons.

Quality and Quantity:
Most of Ontario's leading industrial municipalities have access to the Great Lakes, a source of soft water. Energy experts know the cost benefits that are linked to natural, soft water.
