Valuing The Forest: Green Innovations in Forestry

Twitter Updates
This documentary-style film explores green innovations and value-added forestry in Northern Ontario. It aims to further establish Ontario as a top investment destination through the stories of researchers, successful businesses and investors.

The production of this film, including research, filming and post-production, is being conducted by Catchlight Video Solutions Inc. of Thunder Bay, Ontario.

A documentary, unlike a news report, is always built around a central story or character. This film will be built around value-added wood researcher and university professor Dr. Mat Leitch as a central character. He has been selected because of his unique presence and straightforward way of presenting complex concepts. Dr. Leitch will be used as the spine of the film, taking us from one topic to the next and providing background on not only the forest industry but on innovation of new technologies, many of which are currently being studied by students in his laboratory. This reinforces the idea that one of the strengths of Northern Ontario is the connection between academic research and the direct and immediate application in industrial development.

Valuing the Forest is currently in production and will be available on this site summer 2010. In the meantime, follow the Catchlight team as they produce the film.
