Space accelerator MaxQ to land in Kitchener this fall

A recent article in the Waterloo Region Record by Terry Pender states that “Canada's first start-up accelerator for new products from satellite data” will open in the Kitchener/Waterloo region this September. That start-up's name is MaxQ Accelerator Inc., and they will support start-ups working in biotechnology, big data, earth observation, wearables, and much more.

The timing couldn't be better since the space industry is expected to grow to US$560 billion per year during the next decade, according to the article.

"We are extremely excited about it," said James Slifierz, a MaxQ co-founder. "This is the perfect moment as the space industry is opening up to new entrants."

With support from Communitech, the new accelerator will fit nicely into the already growing local innovation ecosystem that counts COM DEV International and Teledyne DALSA among its members.

Invest in Ontario looks forward to covering the launch of MaxQ in September.
