Autodesk, the world's largest 3D design software company, announced they are moving to the MaRS Discovery District in Toronto, Ontario. They will occupy the second and third floors of the West Tower, a total of more than 60,000 square feet. Moreover, they will develop a street-level event space and design sandbox for the community to engage with new technologies.

Collaborating with other members of Ontario's growing innovation ecosystem is a major part of their plan. Autodesk's influence extends across almost every sector—including advanced manufacturing, IT, life sciences and even cleantech.

"Our new space will also be open to give creators in the community access to a collaborative environment," said Gordon Kurtenbach, senior director of research at Autodesk. "We intend to be a greater part of the community, enabling the next generation of makers and doers to push their crafts into new and unexpected directions with our design tools."

The MaRS Discovery District continues to gain momentum. Just last month, JLABS announced the development of a new 40,000 square foot life sciences facility set to open this spring in the West Tower. With all of this activity, it's clear that MaRS is fast becoming a mecca of innovation in North America.
